SOG Modification Kits for Cassette Toilets
A SOG (Septic Odour Gas) kit vents your cassette toilet's waste tank to the outside, eliminating the need for chemical additives and reducing smell.
How It Works
A small 12v fan pulls air from the waste tank through a hose to an outside vent. The negative pressure in the tank stops odours from escaping into the van.
Benefits
- No chemical additives needed (save £8-12 per month)
- No chemical smell inside the van
- Less frequent emptying (liquids evaporate slightly)
- Better for the environment
Installation
- Drill a 20mm hole in the cassette housing for the fan
- Route the vent hose (supplied) to an outside vent (drill 25mm hole through the van floor)
- Wire the fan to a 12v switch
- The fan runs continuously when the cassette is in place
Compatibility
- Thetford C250, C260, C400: Direct fit (SOG kit TG1000)
- Thetford Porta Potti: Not compatible
Price
SOG kit: £75-95. Installation: DIY in 1-2 hours.
Verdict
A SOG kit is the best upgrade you can make to a cassette toilet. It eliminates chemical smell, saves money on chemicals, and is better for the planet.
